NAFA 85th Anniversary Gala Celebration
Table Decoration
On April 2023, I was asked by Ms. Angelia Chng Yen Joo to join an art project for NAFA's 85th Anniversary. She invited several other merit/scholarship students and IPCP students onboard too.
I was given the opportunity to help with the dining table decorations. This has been a very new experience that goes out of my comfort zone, because I have never worked on real life event decorations. Fortunately, I've always enjoyed learning new skills so I was excited to be a part of this project.

The project was held from April until August 2023. Then, the team had the setup a day before the actual event. Some behind-the-scenes of the creation behind this project:
First Draft
The sketches are my ideas to represent the dance students from NAFA, by using lots of dynamic movements and gold wiring to highlight their strong and graceful energy.
Second Draft
The design team was tasked to simplify the designs in order to make the ideas more achievable, so we decide to group the mannequins in accordance to the different Schools in NAFA, and then just rearranging the props and outfits to represent them.
Third Draft
Afterwards, we were advised to try out different and more interesting compositions with even simpler materials, so I sketched out some possible ideas, incorporating acrylics and cut-out props.
Experimenting with the Materials
Then, we moved on to the experimenting part where we tried out the actual compositions with the materials that we sourced out by ourselves.
Production and Final Touches
After achieving the prototype designs that were approved by the lecturers and organizers, we start mass producing the mannequins, props, and extra details that will be assembled a day before the event. When the day finally arrived, we had some helping hands from NAFA Diploma students to do the finishing touches. Overall, it was a huge learning experience with the lead of Xin Xiaochang.
