Kidult
Photography and Zine
The title “Kidult” is aimed to represent the presence of childishness that remains inside adults, that are ever ever-present in each of us. Huge thanks to my friend Kimberly Gosal, who helped me as a model.
The zine is a tribute to our youth that was changed drastically by an unexpected pandemic, and how we adapt to it.
Conceptually, I wanted to create a fun zine that represents my character as well as Kimberly's as we were both high school friends that came from Indonesia to study in Singapore during the pandemic. I wanted the zine to feel like a private diary, with a scrap book feel.
There were a lot of trouble that came with the production because most of the time I was confused what the right things to do were to create a good zine. Eventually, after meeting Kimberly a few times, I treat our trip as a hangout so the pictures I took felt more personal than I expected.
I learnt more about Kimberly and myself with this project and I'm grateful to have completed the project with results that I was happy with. There's lots of aspects to be improved on, and I will put those learning points to work in my upcoming projects!
Shoutout to my lecturer Bernice for giving great advice and critical feedback!
